About Joe Niezgoda
Coach Joe has 2 undergraduate degrees in the fields of Health/Wellness and Recreation/Leadership. During his studies, Coach Joe concentrated on elderly adult fitness and minored in coaching.
As a college athlete, Coach Joe was a member of a national championship track team and held All American status in the event of Steeplechase. Coach Joe still holds some school records at Buffalo State College (where he achieved his second degree). These records have stood since 2002 and include Steeplechase, Distance Medley Relay and 4x800 meter relay. During Coach Joe's five semesters at Buff State College Joe was school athlete of the week 6 times, SUNYAC (State University of New York Athletic Conference) Athlete of the week, NYSCTC (New York State Collegiate Track Conference) Athlete of the Month, Mary Phillips Memorial Athlete of the meet, and an All Conference cross country runner.
Post college, Coach Joe was a two time Ironman USA finisher, was ranked 13th in the USA in 2003 as a duathlete and is currently ranked nationally as a triathlete. Coach Joe has competed in "elite" category in several races. Coach Joe has won countless local Multi Sport races and has won the Score-This!!! Multi-Sport Series twice. Coach Joe placed fifth in the Lake Tahoe Marathon and has won countless foot races in his career. As a cyclist Coach Joe won the Best New Cyclist Award for the Buffalo Bicycling Club. Joe has won several time trials, and local road races. Joe has quickly developed a reputation as a time trial and hill climb specialist.
Specializing in weight loss, functional fitness, endurance sports, nutrition and holistics, Joe has helped countless people achieve their fitness goals. He has over 10 years of experience in the field of health and fitness. Joe was one of five members who recently created the "T2D" (type 2 diabetes) program for the Buffalo Medical Group. As the author of many multi-sport specific fitness/nutrition based articles, he is eager to spread his knowledge. Joe also has over 25 certifications in the field of health and fitness. Including USA Cycling, ACE personal trainer, Spinning, Pilates, Reiki Master/ Teacher, NYS Coaching (running, swimming, basketball) and many more.
Before pursuing his own business, Coach Joe has managed several local fitness center. He has also served as an aquatics director at a local club and several recreation programs. Coach Joe also was an assistant track coach at Buffalo State College in 2003, he also coached the South Buffalo Athletic Club from 2002 to 2006 and coached the Alden Town Swim Team in 1997 and 1998.
